Well it’s taken a while but I finally given in and followed the growing trend and bought a Kindle. I been asking owners whenever I’ve seen someone reading one and not one has had any complaints about their’s, so last week I took the plunge.
I have to admit that I’m very pleased with it so far. I bought the Kindle Fire HD 16GB and it really is a superb piece of kit. So far I haven’t missed the feel of a conventional book. I still have several unread ones on my shelf but I have no desire, so far, to handle one. This model of Kindle is much more than an e-reader but I’m currently making my way through ‘Life of Pi‘ which I downloaded for the total cost of 20 pence. Bargain price and so far a terrific read. Not at all my usual fare of mysteries but entertaining all the same.
I particularly like the fact that you can download a preview few pages to see if you like the style of writing first then if you do, you can download the remainder in a matter seconds. So, I’m hooked and as I’m not writing very much at the moment, I’m enjoying reading again. I’ve never actually stopped reading but it’s always been a time balance. Since NaWriMo last year I seem to have lost the desire to write as much so I’m hoping that reading will re-stimulate that but rather than force things I’m just enjoying books.
I’m probably the only person out there who hasn’t already bought a Kindle but now I have joined the ranks and am enjoying it immensely. Happy Kindling !!
Oh great, now I’m the only one…thanks! 🙂 I’ve been on the fence. There are a lot of things I like about the e-readers, primarily books on demand, that is very appealing. I still like the smell of a new book and actually turning the pages. The fact that I have over 75 books on my TBR shelf is also a factor in holding off on the purchase. 🙂 Enjoy!
