Here in the U.K. there is a National Lottery. The weekly draw to decide who wins is shown live on TV on Saturday night. Now, in many homes, Saturday evening is a time to socialise; to visit friends, go out for food, or to have them over and cook something. This means, of course, that Sunday morning has become the time when, for many of us, we check our lottery tickets to see if we have become millionaires, overnight.
I’m not a regular lottery gambler but occasionally I will have a flutter. I don’t have any regular numbers I use I just pick them at random and cross my fingers they are the winners. They never are but it’s nice to dream about what it would be like to actually win a huge amount of money. There are many stories about lottery wins changing peoples lives for the bad, instead of for good. I suppose nobody knows what would happen to them unless they experience it. I’d like to think I would be able to handle it and do some good with my windfall. Although a new house, car, Macbook, iPad, furniture and holidays might be on the cards too. I’m only human after all but I would help out my family too.
It’s a dream for most of us but it does happen to somebody. Have you ever thought what you would do if you won a substantial amount?
I would definitely buy my own house, somewhere near the sea. Other than helping out family and some charities, I am not sure how I would spend it!
